My friend Cindy has posted pictures of her bookshelves which has inspired me to do the same. So here goes:
My husband saw the writing on the wall last summer and decided to do something about it - so he built these bookshelves for me in our basement. To the left of the shelves is the door to go upstairs and to the left of the door are more shelves - but they hold my husband's books. He says that this summer he'll have to build more to accommodate my daughter's books. I think I'm running out of room already!

Oh my gosh - I don't feel so bad about my books now. Your bookcases are awesome!
Wow, that is my dream room! I have a wall of books in my living room, but it's not as big and the books don't go all the way up to the ceiling. Thanks for sharing!
Nice shelves! We had two walls of built in shelves two houses ago. It was devastating when we moved and left the shelves behind. Now we have 4 large double bookcases so we can move our book storage with us. (Of course we need more and that doesn't count my son and daughters bookcases or my husbands for technical books.) When we sold our last house the first question the potential buyer asked was if the bookcases came with the house, LOL!
Donna, those are great bookcases. Is P available to come and make mine? LOL I just might have to copy your bookshelf plans to make mine. That is similiar to what I want floor to ceiling wall to wall.
Thanks for sharing the picture.
It was great seeing you for lunch today. See you next week.
You lucky woman! One of the things I'm going to be looking for when we start searching for a new house is room for lots of books shelves. We have a few now, but not nearly enough. And they are scattered all over the house.
What a lucky lady you are to have a husband who can make these beautiful bookshelves!! You have a beautiful library!!
Awesome, awesome shelves! I'm drooling over all those books!
Thanks everyone!
Unfortunately, I saw the big sale going which was going on at bookcloseouts. Yep, I put in a semi-huge order. I was too afraid to count the number of books I bought, but my mind can't help calculating how much I spent and dividing that by $2 (which is how much each book cost), which will give me the number...arghhhh!
