Almond Torte

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Line with parchment paper, and then grease a springform cake pan.

2 eggs
½ cup sugar
2/3 cup butter
¾ cup flour

Mix eggs and sugar, blending well. Melt butter, let cool a bit then add it and the flour alternately to the mixture. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake until top is golden - about 30 minutes.

Melt butter and add sugar and 2 tbsp milk. Bring to a boil. Add the almonds, boil gently for one minute then lower heat and cook until mixture is creamy. Pour over cake then bake at 300 F til almonds have browned, about 15 minutes. Remove, cool and serve.

To dress up torte: when cooled, roll edge in icing sugar and then sprinkle on top.
